BROCKTON, MA : Driver charged with OUI after Brockton park crash on Saturday, 13th July 2019

Pointing to where the car drove through some nearby bushes, witnesses told an investigating officer that the Chevy Malibu drove off the road and crashed into a tree on Saturday morning, according to Brockton police.

Claudio Rodrigues Goncalves, 30, of Brockton, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, and the reckless operation of a motor vehicle, after police located him and attempted to interview him following a crash inside D.W. Field Park in Brockton around 10:45 a.m. on Saturday. Brockton police said the Malibu crashed into a tree off of D.W. Field Parkway, close to the Avon side of the expansive city-owned park.

“Witnesses told police the Malibu drove off the road and pointed to where the car drove over nearby bushes,” said Brockton police, in a short summary of the incident. “The investigating officer found the Malibu on the side of the road on DW Fields Parkway near the Avon side of the park.”

When they located him, Goncalves was “uncooperative” with officers at the scene, police said.
