TIVERTON, RI : officers found the Jeep crumpled with the driver pinned under it on April, Tuesday 18th 2017
Police were already heading toward the Jeep reported weaving down Route 24 when the calls for the crash came in.
The first officers found the Jeep crumpled, with the driver pinned under it.
Ervina Sinko, 41, of Buffinton Street, Fall River, was taken to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence with serious injuries after she crashed her 2003 Jeep Cherokee, fell out of the driver’s seat and got dragged under the vehicle Tuesday at 3 p.m., police report.
“We got 911 calls of a car that hit the guard rail by the Fish Road exit from Route 24 south,” said Police Capt. Patrick Jones. “Witnesses approached the police on the scene and reported they followed her on Route 24 and she was driving recklessly, all over the road.”
Tiverton rescue workers had to lift the wrecked Jeep to extract Sinko, police report.
“She was underneath the car,” Jones said. “The damage to the vehicle dropped the driver’s seat to the ground. It ripped the car apart.”
Police followed Sinko to the hospital. She was reported in good condition on Wednesday.
She refused a Breathalyzer test, police allege. In those cases, police can go to court, asking a judge to approve releasing medical records to the police that include her blood alcohol level at the time of her admission to the hospital.
Police charged Sinko with driving under the influence based on the observations of officers at the scene, Jones said.
Officers tending to that accident had a second to straighten out, police report.
