Phoenix, AZ : Driver killed when vehicle crashes into pole in Phoenix crash near 19th and Clarendon avenues on Wednesday, 17th July 2019

A man died after crashing into a utility pole in Phoenix on Wednesday morning, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Efrain Gutierrez, 19, was driving a vehicle that collided with the pole near 19th and Clarendon avenues at around 5 a.m., police said.

Prior to the crash, the vehicle traveled left of center and partially onto the sidewalk before colliding with the pole, according to police.

Gutierrez was pronounced dead at the scene.

Speed is considered to be a factor in the collision. Police said they do not know if impairment was a factor.
