Culver City, CA : Father of 8-year-old killed in Culver City crash on Saturday, September 10, 2016

A man was killed and his 8-year-old son injured in Culver City on Saturday when the driver of a stolen car ran a red light while trying to evade police and plowed into another vehicle at a major intersection.

The collision occurred after Culver City police officers tried to pull over a Ford Fusion without license plates about 11 a.m. at Washington and La Cienega boulevards, according to police.

The driver, a 17-year-old girl, went through a red light and struck a black BMW carrying the father and son, said Lt. Troy Dunlap with the Culver City Police Department. The man died at the scene, Dunlap said.

Coroner’s officials identified the man Sunday as Jorge Banda, 33, of Los Angeles.
