A DOT worker was hurt in a hit-and-run in Wilkes County, NC, according to North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
The collision reportedly happened on Brushy Mountain Road in Wilkesboro at approximately 1:45 p.m. Around 4:15 p.m., officials said the driver, an elderly woman, and the vehicle believed to be involved had been located.
Troopers said the worker was getting out of his vehicle when a green older model Toyota Corolla hit him. The female driver kept driving. The worker was taken to a hospital in Winston-Salem. Officials said he was seriously hurt, but don't believe his injuries are life-threatening.
The worker reportedly had a vest on and lights flashing on his work truck.
Investigators said the woman told them she thought she hit a deer.
The name of the driver and possible charges have not been released.
