Scottsboro, AL : Alabama woman dies after being ejected from vehicle in Jackson County crash on Monday morning, November 28, 2016

An Alabama woman died after being thrown from her car this morning in a Jackson County crash.

Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash that killed Barbara J. Smith, 58, of Section, state troopers spokesman Curtis Summerville said.

Smith's 2000 Oldsmobile struck a fence and overturned after leaving Jackson County Road 43 at 11 a.m., Summerville said.

Smith, who was not using a seat belt, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene, according to troopers.

"Although the circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation, preliminary investigation indicates speed was a factor in the crash," Summerville said in a news release.
