Anchorage, AK : 1 dead after rollover crash on Glenn Highway near Peters Creek on Thursday, 3rd September, 2020

A man died after his car flipped into an oncoming traffic lane on the Glenn Highway near Peters Creek early Thursday, Anchorage police said.

The man was driving a silver Chevrolet Aveo on the inbound lane of the highway around 6:45 a.m. when he went off the roadway near the South Peters Creek exit, police wrote in an alert. The man overcorrected, causing his vehicle to swerve, according to police, and the car crossed the median and flipped into the outbound lane.

The driver was extracted from the car but died at the scene, according to police. He was the only person in the vehicle and police said no one else was injured. Police have not yet identified the driver.

The outbound lanes of Glenn Highway were closed between the Peters Creek exits early Thursday but police said that all lanes of the highway had reopened just after 10 a.m.
