Reading, PA : Multi-vehicle accident shuts down lane on Route 724 on Thursday, December 22nd 2016

One lane of Route 724 was closed for more than an hour Thursday after a mail truck collided with a small school bus at the intersection with Mifflin Boulevard, Cumru Township police said.

The crash occurred about 7:10 a.m. The bus wasn’t carrying any students.The short bus, owned by the bus contractor for the Gov. Mifflin School District, was driven by Thomas Lucca, 51, of Kenhorst.

He was westbound on Route 724 when a mail truck, driven by Kenneth Kessock, 37, of Pottsville pulled out from a stop sign on Mifflin Boulevard in the process of making a left turn.

The front of the truck hit the bus behind the right front wheel.

Debris was scattered over the road. Fire police closed the westbound lane.

Both driver were evaluated by emergency medical personnel at the scene and declined to be taken to a hospital.
