Bessemer man dies 12 days after motorcycle crash

A Bessemer man died Sunday, nearly two weeks after he wrecked his motorcycle.Corey Dewayne Jackson, 41, died at 2:22 a.m. at UAB Hospital, according to the Jefferson County Coroner's Office. Johnson was injured Nov. 13.Authorities said the accident happened on Brewer Drive near Bessemer. Before he died, Jackson told family members he was slowing his motorcycle down to cross railroad tracks and lost control of the motorcycle.

The motorcycle went down, and Jackson suffered a broken lower right leg. He was taken to UAB Hospital where he underwent surgery the following day. He developed complications, and appears to have died from a blood clot.
