Memphis, TN : One person died in a two vehicle crash on Lamar Avenue early Saturday morning, December 12, 2015

A two vehicle crash on Lamar Avenue early Saturday morning left one person dead.

The crash happened just after 1 a.m. on Lamar Ave. near Pearson Road.

Investigators said the driver of the first vehicle disregarded a red light at Pearson Rd. and hit the second vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers went to the hospital to talk to the first driver, identified as Matthew Abram.

Abram told police that brake failure caused the accident.

Police arrested Abram for driving with a suspended driver’s license and no proof of insurance. It is unknown if additional charges will be filed against Abram.

This investigation is ongoing.
