REEDSPORT, OR : Two women die in multi-vehicle crash in Reedsport on Monday, December, 11th 2017
Two women died in a multi-vehicle accident Monday morning near milepost 12 on Highway 38 east of Reedsport.
According to a press release from Oregon State Police Sgt. Kaipo Raiser, police troopers and emergency personnel rushed to the scene at about 7:26 a.m.
Lisa Oswill, 48, of Tigard was driving a white 2009 Kia Rio eastbound on Highway 38 when her vehicle crossed the center line and crashed into a westbound white 2015 Jeep Cherokee head-on. The passenger in the Kia was Carly Renee Williams-Oswill, 21, from Wedderburn, according to Raiser. Wedderburn is an unincorporated coastal town in Curry County.
Both died at the scene.
"Speed and icy roads are being considered factors in this crash," Sgt. Raiser wrote.
The two occupants of the Jeep were driver Lacy Little Deer Santos, 37, and Kylee Louise Santos, 15, both of Scottsburg. Sgt. Raiser said an ambulance rushed Lacy to a Eugene hospital for serious but non-life threatening injuries. Kylee was transported by ground ambulance to a Reedsport hospital "also for serious, but non-life threatening injuries."
Raiser said all occupants from both vehicles were using their seat belts and airbags in the vehicles deployed.
Sgt. Raiser said "SR 38 was closed for approximately three hours following the crash."
OSP was assisted by Douglas County Sheriff's Department, Scottsburg Fire and Medical, Reedsport Fire Department and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
