A Bridgeport man was charged with drunken driving Sunday after state police said he hit a trooper’s vehicle and slammed head-on into another car while driving the wrong way on Route 15 in Hamden.
Officers were called to Exit 60 on the northbound section of the highway about 11:15 p.m. for a wrong-way driver. While responding, a trooper’s vehicle was sideswiped by the car heading south near Exit 64.
State police said the wrong-way driver, later identified as Rodenstein Mine, crashed head-on into a car near Exit 66. The driver of the other car suffered minor injuries.
After the crash, Mine, 44, failed a field sobriety test, state police said. Mine was charged with drinking while operating a motor vehicle, operating under the influence, second-degree reckless endangerment, driving the wrong way on a divided highway, disobeying the signal of an officer and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
Mine was held on $10,000 bond and scheduled to appear in Superior Court in New Haven on Monday.
