Memphis, TN : Two people arrested after fatal crash on I-240 at Poplar Ave. on Sunday morning, Oct 18, 2015

A fatal crash early Sunday morning lands two people in jail, and one of them is accused of driving drunk.

Ramiro Junior, 25, and Samuel Badillo, 22, were both arrested after a crash on Interstate 240 near Poplar.

Investigators said Junior was driving westbound on I-240 when his car lost control and crashed with Badillio's car.

There were two passengers in Badillo's car. One passenger, 24-year-old Jose Jaimes, died at the scene. The second passenger was taken to Regional Medical Center in non-critical condition.

"It's scary. It's a risk when you go out on the road, no matter what," said Lauren Harrett.

Police said Ramiro Junior appeared to be intoxicated. Upon inspection of his car, police found several open and unopened bottles of Corona beer.

"There was about six, seven or eight cars,” said Ace Hodge. “I was wondering what would be that big of a deal to cut the whole highway off."

Hodge was driving to work Sunday morning when he saw police covering 240 at the Poplar exit. The highway was shut down at 4 a.m.

"It makes me not want to take the highway anymore,” Hodge said.

Ramiro Junior was taken to Regional Medical Center in non-critical condition. He was arrested and charged with vehicular homicide, two counts of vehicular assault, reckless driving, DUI, public intoxication, failure to exercise due care, financial responsibility, and driving without a license.

Samuel Badillio was also taken to Regional Medical Center in non-critical condition. He was arrested and charged with driving without a license and financial responsibility.
