Port Charlotte, FL : A bicyclist was critically injured in a Port Charlotte crash on Tuesday, January, 23rd 2018

A bicyclist was critically injured in a Port Charlotte crash Tuesday evening. Around 6:15 p.m., Jose Ceron, 53, of Port Charlotte, was traveling southbound in the right hand portion of the southbound lane of Midway Boulevard. He was wearing dark, non-reflective clothing and had no lighting on his bicycle, according to a press release from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Brian Chenault, 48, of Port Charlotte, was driving a 2013 Toyota Scion directly behind Ceron when he struck the rear of the bicycle with the front of his vehicle, the press release stated. Ceron was thrown from his bicycle and landed on the hood and windshield of Chenault’s car, before rolling off the vehicle onto the southbound grassy shoulder of Midway Boulevard.
