TRAVERSE CITY, MI : Driver killed in rollover crash on Tuesday, July 4, 2017
Authorities are investigating a Kalkaska County rollover crash that killed the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle.
Michigan State Police responded to the crash on Plum Valley Road in Clearwater Township at about 3:50 p.m. Tuesday, according to a release.
Troopers determined the driver, Gabriel Jasmin, 19 of Traverse City, was speeding west in his Ford Ranger when the vehicle ran off of the road to the left. Jasmin attempted to correct the vehicle, losing control and skidding back into the right lane. The truck then over turned several times onto the north side of the road, where it crashed into trees, the release states.
The vehicle came to rest on the driver's side.
Jasmin was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead by emergency crews on scene.
Troopers were assisted by Clearwater Township fire, Kalkaska County sheriff's deputies and Kalkaska EMS.
