Two people are dead after a motorcycle crash in the Saline area Friday night.
Police were called by passersby at 6:24 p.m. June 3 for a reported crash between a motorcycle and vehicle on Michigan Avenue between Willow and Case roads, said Derrick Jackson of the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office. The motorcycle was reported to be on fire.
The two motorcyclists were pronounced dead at the scene, said Joyce Williams of Huron Valley Ambulance. Another person who survived the crash had not yet been transported as of 7:15 p.m.
The crash involved an SUV on westbound Michigan Avenue, but both directions were closed between Willow and Case roads, Williams said. The road is expected to be closed for several hours.
Parts of the motorcycle were strewn across the road and a silver SUV remained in the ditch Friday evening.
Michigan State Police are handling the case, but Saline and Clinton police, and the Saline Fire Department were also on scene. The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office handles dispatch calls in the area.
