NEW CASTLE, IN : New Castle police probe hit-and-run collision on Tuesday, 20th August 2019

New Castle police are seeking the public’s help in finding a motorist involved in a hit-and-run accident early Tuesday.

According to New Castle Police Chief Matt Schofield, a bicyclist – William J. Clapp, 48 – was riding in the southbound lanes of Ind. 3 near Cherry Street at 12:43 a.m. when he was struck by a vehicle.

The driver of that vehicle did not stop after the collision, which took place near South Mound Cemetery.

Clapp was critically injured, and continued to be treated Thursday at an Indianapolis hospital, the police chief said.
