Springfield, IL : Two people were seriously injured after a traffic crash on February, Saturday 10th 2018

Two people were seriously injured after a traffic crash Saturday night near the intersection of Illinois 97 and 125, west of Springfield.

Illinois State Police said the crash occurred at 7:13 p.m. when a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix traveling east on Illinois 97 and a westbound 2003 Honda Accord collided nearly head-on. Both drivers were seriously injured, police said.

Police did not release the drivers’ names or any details about them. The driver of the Pontiac was cited for improper lane usage, police said.

The highway was closed for approximately two hours.
