STATE COLLEGE, PA : Coroner IDs 1 of 2 truckers killed in icy pileup on I-80 on Thursday, January 19th 2017

A coroner has identified one of two tractor-trailer drivers killed last week in an icy, six-vehicle, chain-reaction crash in central Pennsylvania.

Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers says the victim is 65-year-old John Gaskin, of Landover, Maryland. The coroner is waiting for dental records to positively identify the other trucker killed in the Jan. 11 crash on Interstate 80.

The crashes began about 12:30 a.m. when a tractor-trailer stopped in the eastbound lanes near the Bellefonte exit after another truck in front of it slid off the right berm, but partially blocked traffic.

Although the second tractor-trailer stopped safely, another smashed into it, followed by two more tractor trailers and two passenger vehicles.

The men killed were driving the third and fourth tractor trailers involved in the crash.
