MONTICELLO, IL : Accident involving anhydrous tanks reported in Monticello on Sunday, 5th November 2023

An accident involving anhydrous tanks led to the evacuation of nearby residents early Sunday morning.

First responders were called out to the 400 Block of Kratz Rd. Police say initial reports from dispatch showed a truck hit a tree and had "steam coming out of it."

When police arrived, the truck transporting anhydrous tanks and the hitch broke. This caused the anhydrous tanks to collide with trees and cause a small amount of anhydrous to exit the tank.

Police say, out of an abundance of caution, nearby residents were asked to evacuate.
