Botkins, OH : Brookville man killed in crash on Interstate 75 on Friday evening, March 17, 2017
A Brookville man was killed in a multi-vehicle crash Friday evening just after 9 p.m. on Interstate 75 southbound at milepost 106.
According to the Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol, Dylan Puckett, 23, was killed in the crash. Puckett was driving northbound on I-75. For an unknown reason, he crossed the median and struck a southbound Lincoln MKS SUV, which was driven by Angela Barron, 50, of Newport, Michigan.
Puckett’s Pontiac then struck a southbound Volvo tractor trailer being operated by Thomas Balister, 71, of Toledo. The Volvo tractor trailer then sideswiped a southbound Lincoln Aviator SUV being driven by Derek Barron, 17, of Newport, Michigan.
All four vehicles sustained heavy disabling damage and had to be towed from the scene.
Puckett was pronounced dead at the scene. He was transported from the scene by Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, Wapakoneta. Balister sustained non-incapacitating injuries and was transported by Anna Rescue to Wilson Health, Sidney. Angela Barron sustained non-incapacitating injuries was transported by Anna Rescue to Lima Memorial Hospital. Derek Barron and his passenger, Tyler Barron, 19, of Newport, Michigan, were transported to Lima Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
Agencies assisting at the scene included Anna Fire and Rescue, Botkins Fire, Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office, Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Auglaize County EMA, Ohio Department of Transportation and the Auglaize County Coroner’s Office.
Alcohol and seat belt use is not known at this time. The crash remains under investigation.
The southbound lanes of I-75 were closed for several hours.
