Corpus Christi, TX : One killed in pickup-SUV crash on state Highway 281 on Saturday, March 25, 2017

One person was killed when a pickup pulled into the path of an SUV on state Highway 281 late Saturday.

The 2006 Ford F-150 pickup carrying four people was traveling north at about 9:35 p.m. when the driver attempted to turn around at a cross-over about 14 miles south of Falfurrias in Brooks County, according to a Texas Highway Patrol news release. The driver failed to yield the right-of-way at the cross-over stop sign and the pickup was struck by a 2011 Chevrolet SUV traveling south.

A passenger in the Ford was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger's name was not released, pending notification of family. Two passengers from the Ford were taken by HALO-Flight to Christus Spohn Hospital Memorial in Corpus Christi in serious condition. The driver and passenger from the Chevrolet were taken to McAllen Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
