Brunswick County , NC : Two people killed and several others injured after fatal accident on Friday night ,May 22nd 2015
A crash in Brunswick County killed two and injured several others Friday night.
According to Sergeant Williams of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, a two-vehicle crash occurred on N.C. 130 at Longwood Road in the Ash community in Brunswick County around 10 p.m.
A vehicle traveling on Longwood Road failed to stop at the intersection and ran into another vehicle traveling on N.C. 130.
One passenger from each vehicle died as a result of the crash.
John Watson Williams, 59, of Southport, was a rear passenger in the at-fault vehicle. Williams died in the accident according to Sgt. P.M. Sanders with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Helen Bare, 82, of Liberty, N.C., was a rear passenger in the other vehicle. She also died as a result of the crash according to Sanders.
Another passenger in the at-fault vehicle was airlifted to New Hanover Regional Medical Center. An unknown number of other occupants were transported to Novant-Brunswick Hospital and Grand Strand Hospital. Sanders said three people were riding in each vehicle involved in the accident.
Sanders said Charles Harvey Lee of Southport was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle following the crash. Sanders said Lee failed to stop at a stop sign and his vehicle struck the other car. Sanders said more charges could be coming for Lee.
Sanders said alcohol could have been a factor in the crash, but the incident is still under investigation.
