A woman is in serious condition after a crash on U.S. Highway 40, officials say.
The crash took place just before 1 p.m. about four miles east of Fruitland, according to Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Jacob Cox.
The driver of a car that was following a pickup truck on the road called UHP and complained about how the truck was driving, Cox said.
The truck, which was heading west, then lost control, rolled and hit the guardrail of the highway, Cox said. During the crash, the grille of the truck got pushed back into the dashboard and pushed out the glove box, according to Cox.
A female passenger in the truck had hand injuries and is in serious condition, he said. The male driver had minor head injuries and was in fair condition. Both were transported to the hospital, Cox said.
There was heavy snowfall in the area at the time of the crash, and roads were snowpacked, UHP officials said. Speed and impairment are also being investigated as possible causes of the crash, he said.
