LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC : A Chapin man was killed in a hit-and-run on Sunday, June 18, 2017

The Lexington County Coroner says a Chapin man was killed in a hit-and-run while attempting to cross a road near his home Sunday morning.

Troopers say the crash happened just after 5 a.m. Sunday on Westwoods Drive near St. Peters Church Road. Coroner Margaret Fisher says Darrius Dreher, 22, died at the scene.

Investigators say Dreher was hit by an unknown vehicle that took off. The South Carolina Highway Patrol says the vehicle that hit Dreher could have been a full-size pickup truck or SUV. The vehicle could have some damage to the front. The Highway Patrol and the MAIT team are investigating.
