Vallejo, CA : Bicyclist seriously injured in Vallejo crash on Tuesday, March 14, 2017

An unidentified female bicyclist was struck and had life-threatening injuries after she collided with a 2005 GMC Envoy on Curtola Parkway just west of Sonoma Boulevard at about 5:47 p.m. Tuesday, according to Vallejo police.

The Envoy was traveling west on Curtola Parkway while the bicyclist was traveling north across the parkway.

Witnesses told police that the bicyclist was on the south sidewalk between Sonoma Boulevard and Marin Street. While eastbound traffic was stopped for the red signal light, the bicyclist began riding north and weaved between the stopped cars. Once the bicyclist reached the number one westbound lane, she collided with the passing GMC.

The bicyclist was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to police. The driver of the GMC, a 40-year-old Vallejo man, was not injured. Intoxication appears to be a factor in the collision, according to police.
