ALBION, NY : An Oswego County resident was killed on Monday, November, 6th 2017
An Oswego County resident was killed Monday night after driving off county Route 48 in Albion, Oswego County Sheriff's Office Investigator Rob Moody said.
The driver, whose name was not released, was going north on county Route 48 near Sheepskin Road and failed to negotiate a curve, Moody said in a news release. The 2012 Toyota Camry went off the east side of the road, stuck a sign and then hit a tree about 8:30 p.m., the investigator said.
Oswego County sheriff's deputies, Altmar volunteer firefighters and Northern Oswego County Ambulance (NOCA) crews responded to the crash.
Sheriff's investigators said the driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was alone in the car.
"Crossing hazardous markings, no seat belt and alcohol appear to be contributing factors to the accident," Moody said in a news release. "The investigation is ongoing pending notification of next of kin."
This was the second fatal crash Monday in Oswego County. About 1 p.m. Monday, another county resident died when he drove off Salt Road in Constantia. State police are continuing to investigate the cause of that crash.
