Colorado Springs, CO : Man in critical condition after crashing into boulder, light pole in Colorado Springs on Thursday night, April 7, 2016

A 20-year-old man was taken to the hospital in critical condition Thursday night after crashing into a boulder and a light pole in southeast Colorado Springs.

The crash happened about 11:20 p.m. near the intersection of Circle Drive and Sturgis Road when the man's car went off the road, hit several curbs, a light pole, a boulder and a tree, according to Colorado Springs police.

It does not appear that alcohol or drugs were involved in the crash, though speeding may have been a factor, according to police. Police have not released the man's name or an provided an update on his condition as of Friday morning.

The crash closed Circle Drive in the area for several hours Thursday night as crews worked to clean up the debris from the crash.
