Jackson,MS : JPD officer injured in hit-and-run; suspect in custody on May, Tuesday 1st 2018
Jackson Police are investigating a hit-and-run accident involving a police officer. It occurred at the intersection Briarwood Drive and Interstate 55 West Frontage Road.
Shortly before 6:00 p.m. an on-duty officer was traveling on Briarwood Drive when a second vehicle collided with the officer. The suspect vehicle, which was believed to have run the traffic light, left the scene following the collision and was observed traveling to a nearby business.
The driver of the vehicle, a 40-year-old man, was later taken into custody and arrested for several traffic violations, as well as leaving the scene of an accident.
The officer was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries but none appear to be life-threatening.
This investigation is ongoing.
