One person was killed in a single-vehicle wreck in north Charlotte Tuesday morning.
According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, the deadly crash occurred in the 1200 block Atando Avenue near Timeplanner Drive just after 12:30 a.m. Once on scene, officers said they found a 1996 Buick that was off of the roadway.
Police believe the driver was traveling east on Atando Avenue and heading near a curved section of the roadway. The driver then drove off the road to the right and struck a raised curb, according to officers. The driver then reportedly struck a tree and overturned, police say.
MEDIC pronounced the victim dead on scene, officers say. One passenger was taken to Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center with serious injuries and two others received minor injuries.
The road was shut down for some time while crews cleaned up tree branches and debris from the scene. The road has since reopened, officers say.
Police tweeted about the wreck just after 1 a.m.
