Killeen, TX : Four-vehicle accident on U.S. 190 snarls traffic on April, Thursday 13th 2017
A four-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 190 sent multiple motorists to local hospitals and gridlocked eastbound traffic Thursday morning.
At 7:50 a.m., a 1999 Pontiac Sunfire driven by Tammy Christian, 45, of Copperas Cove, failed to stop behind a line of three cars stopped in heavy traffic and struck the rear bumper of a 2010 Ford pickup operated by Bryan Lundt, 57, of Cove, at the intersection of 190 and Clark Road.
The force of the impact caused the Ford to strike the rear bumper of a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta operated by Megan Reiss, 29, of Cove, and then a 2015 Chevrolet pickup operated by Adam Chappell, 30, of Harker Heights.
All drivers and passengers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision, according to Sgt. David Roberts with the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Lundt and Reiss were both rushed to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center by ambulance for possible injuries.
Christian and her sole passenger, Kayla Mannstedt, 22, of Cove, were both transported by ambulance to Metroplex Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Officials with the Texas Department of Public Safety closed all three eastbound lanes with vehicles being detoured along the north shoulder of the highway and through the Clark Road exit.
The scene had been cleared by late morning Thursday.
No charges have been filed.
