Portland, OR : Driver dies after hitting commercial truck, rollover crash near Pendleton on Tuesday, March 28, 2017

A driver died Tuesday after her SUV hit a commercial truck while traveling along Oregon 11 southwest of Pendleton, then went off the road and rolled onto its top.

Kalli Rae Thompson, 27, of Bismarck, North Dakota died at the scene, according to Oregon State Police. No one else was injured.

Thompson was driving north on the highway near milepost 8 around 1:15 p.m. when her SUV drifted into the southbound lane and sideswiped a commercial truck hauling a trailer, police said. The collision caused some of the back wheels on the trailer to be torn off and sent the SUV off the road.

What led to the crash is still under investigation.
