Montgomery, AL : Montgomery man dies after Troy Hwy. crash on Thursday, December 1st, 2016
Dan Hatway, 92, died after being involved in a traffic accident at the intersection of of Troy Highway and Taylor Road Thursday, according to a statement from the Montgomery Police Department.
It was the second major accident in two days at the intersection after a seven-car accident – that included a school bus and an 18-wheeler – sent five to the hospital on Wednesday.
MPD and medics responded to the intersection at about 4 p.m. Thursday after a two-car accident involving a 1988 Buick Regal and a 2008 Chevrolet Equinox. The Equinox was turning from Taylor Road onto Troy Highway and the Regal was traveling north on Troy Highway when the two collided, according to MPD.
Hataway, the driver of the Regal, was taken to Baptist Medical Center South, where he was later pronounced dead. The driver of the Equinox was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
MPD's Lt. Regina Duckett said accident investigators are still working to determine the cause of the crash.
