Fort Collins, CO : 15-year-old boy killed in an all-terrain vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 287 in northern Colorado on Sunday afternoon, February 22, 2015

The boy who died Sunday afternoon in a utility terrain vehicle crash in Laporte has been identified as 15-year-old Mason Pascoe, of Fort Collins.

Emergency crews were called about 4 p.m. to an area near the intersection of West County Road 54G and U.S. Highway 287, northwest of Fort Collins. The boy was riding in a side-by-side UTV when it rolled over on top of him, the Larimer County Coroner's Office said Monday. The driver of the UTV, an unnamed juvenile male, wasn't injured.

A Monday autopsy deemed the crash an accident and determined Pascoe died from severe head and neck trauma. He was not wearing a seat belt.

Neither drugs nor alcohol appeared to be a factor in the crash, authorities said. Additional details were not immediately made available.

The boy was the fifth person to die as a result of a Larimer County vehicle crash so far in 2015. It was the second all-terrain vehicle death of the year. By this time last year, two people had died as a result of crashes in Larimer County.
