Wellfleet, MA : Three people injured in a two-car head-on crash on Route 6 in Wellfleet Saturday afternoon on August 16, 2014
Police have released new details about an afternoon crash on Route 6 that clogged up traffic for hours on Saturday.
The Wellfleet Police Department received numerous 911 calls at about 3:24 p.m. Saturday reporting a head-on collision on Route 6 near Wendon Way, according to a statement released by police today.
The Wellfleet Fire Department used hydraulic tools to remove Michael Goldstien, 59, of New York, from one of the vehicles, according to the statement. Goldstein, who sustained serious injuries, was taken by MedFlight helicopter to Mass General Hospital in Boston where his condition is currently reported as stable, according to the statement.
The driver and passenger of the second vehicle – Timothy Skerry, 20, of Kingston and Jaclyn Tomasello, 19 of Halifax – were both taken to Cape Cod Hospital, according to the statement.
Skerry was treated and released and Tomasello was admitted with non-life threatening injuries and is currently in stable condition, according to police.
A third vehicle involved in the accident had minor damage and its driver was taken to Cape Cod Hospital, treated for minor injuries and released, according to police.
The accident is under investigation by the Cape Cod Regional Crash Reconstruction Team and the Wellfleet Police Department, according to the statement.
The road was closed to one-lane slowing traffic in both directions. It was cleared by 7 p.m. but congestion continued until 9:30 p.m., according to police.
