Hyannis,MA : Woman who died after she was ejected from a car on Wednesday, April 13th, 2016
Police have identified the woman who died after she was ejected from a car early Wednesday morning as Deborah A. Coelho, 51, of Centerville.
Coelho and her 27-year-old son Jon Wetherbee were in a 2006 Nissan Sentra headed east on Main Street around 1:42 a.m. Wednesday morning, when the car drifted across the westbound lane and struck a fence before crashing into a tree, Barnstable police Sgt. Sean Sweeney said.
Coelho was ejected from the car, police said, and died after she was taken to Cape Cod Hospital.
Wetherbee also suffered serious injuries in the crash and was flown to Rhode Island Hospital from the Cape Cod Airfield in Marstons Mills, according to police and fire officials. He was discharged from the emergency room later that day, according to the hospital.
Speed was likely a factor in the crash, Officer Matthew Lounsbury said Friday, but police were still investigating. Police did not disclose who was driving the car at the time of the crash.
