Hickory, NC : A Morganton man was killed on Sunday, November, 5th 2017
A Morganton man was killed Sunday night when he wrecked his car on U.S. Highway 64.
Adam Ned Freeman, 38, of Morganton was traveling toward Morganton near Silver Creek Church Road around 9 p.m. when he crossed over the center line, said N.C. State Highway Patrol Sgt. B. Sanders.
His white 2000 Honda car then crashed into a ditch and continued to drive a short distance while in the ditch, Sanders said. He was the only person in the car.
Emergency workers from Highway Patrol, Burke County EMS and Brendletown Fire and Rescue all responded to the wreck. Freeman was pronounced dead at the scene, Sanders said.
Freeman was not driving recklessly or faster than the 55 mph speed limit, Sanders said.
“It’s not a normal fatality where you hit something at a high speed,” he said “We’re just kind of puzzled as to what caused it.”
A medical examiner will look at Freeman’s body and determine whether or not to order an autopsy, Sanders said.
Burke Count REACT also assisted at the scene.
