Fort Lauderdale, FL : Woman dies after two motorcycles crash in Davie on Monday, January, 22nd 2018

A woman was killed when the motorcycle she was a passenger on crashed with another bike on Interstate 595, the Florida Highway Patrol said Monday.

A Honda CBR 600 motorcycle driven by Jack Meinero, 28, of Davie, slowed at 11:53 a.m. Sunday near Nob Hill Road in Davie because a car ahead of him was changing lanes, the patrol said in a press release.

Behind him was another Honda CBR 600, driven by Justin Cowell, 24, of Davie, and a passenger, Machelle Moen, 30, also of Davie.

Cowell “failed to slow his vehicle in a safe and prudent manner” as he approached Meinero’s bike and the two collided, according to FHP. Moen died at Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale.

Cowell was treated for minor injuries; Meinero was not hurt, according to FHP.

All three riders were wearing helmets.

FHP said the crash was still being investigated and nobody so far has been charged.
