Crockett, CA : Alameda man killed in fatal motorcycle crash near I-80 ramp Tuesday afternoon, October 18, 2016

A motorcyclist died after a crash near an Interstate 80 ramp Tuesday afternoon, the California Highway Patrol said.

At 3:42 p.m., CHP Contra Costa officers got a call about a solo motorcycle crash on the Pomona Avenue on-ramp to westbound I-80 lanes, the CHP said.

Arriving officers and emergency crews found a Harley Davidson Superglide motorcycle on the on-ramp pavement, but no driver in sight.

Officers soon found the unconscious rider lying on Wanda Street under the I-80 flyover. The rider, identified as a 65-year-old Alameda man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash was still under investigation, and officers said they didn’t know if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
