Bluefield,VI : One airlifted after I-77 crash on September, Saturday 16th 2017

A woman was flown by helicopter to a medical facility following a motorcycle wreck involving a father and daughter on Interstate 77 Saturday.

According to West Virginia State Police Trooper J.R. Tupper, the incident occurred near mile marker 5.6. “The daughter was flown out by helicopter,” Tupper said. “They were both adults. I’m not sure about their ages.”

The names of the two individuals involved in the accident were not being released by the West Virginia State Police at this time.

“The driver said the daughter had fallen asleep on the back of the motorcycle,” Tupper said. “He (the father) reached behind him to push her back up on the motorcycle. And then lost control and ran into the median. It’s unknown what her injuries are at this time.”

Tupper said Mercer County Sheriff’s Department also responded to the accident. “Deputy Calloway, Deputy M. Lacey and Princeton Rescue,” Tupper said.

The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
