A rollover crash on Monday night killed a California University of Pennsylvania student and injured three other people, all of whom were ejected from the car, police said.
The death of Mason Reiff, a 21-year-old student in the communication studies program at Cal U., was confirmed Tuesday by a university spokeswoman.
California borough police said the accident was reported shortly before 8 p.m. on Route 88, about a half-mile north of High Point Tavern.
The car went out of control at the top of a downhill grade, skidded into the hillside on the opposite side of the road, then crossed the road again and struck guiderails on the northbound lane, police said.
Two people were taken to the hospital by ambulance, and two were flown by helicopter. Reiff, of Denver, Lancaster County, was pronounced dead at Allegheny General Hospital at about 11:15 p.m.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Police have not said whether Reiff was the driver or a passenger.
