CHARLOTTE, NC : Bicyclist dead after being struck by vehicle in southeast Charlotte on Monday, January 23rd 2017

One person was killed when they were struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle in southeast Charlotte Monday.
The crash happened around 7:15 p.m. on the 4800 block of Monroe Road. Police said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim's name has not been released.
Investigators said the cyclist was riding inbound in the inside lane when they were struck from behind by a car going in the same direction. Police said the cyclist may have had alcohol before the incident, and that it could have been a factor in the crash.
The driver of the car stayed at the scene. As of Monday night, no charges had been filed.
