Hawthorne, NY : Motorcyclist, passenger died after a multi-vehicle crash on state Route 9A in New York City on Wednesday evening, June 22, 2016

Police say a motorcyclist and a passenger of a second vehicle are dead after a multi-vehicle crash about 15 miles north of New York City.

The Journal News reports police say the crash happened Wednesday evening on state Route 9A in Hawthorne.

Police say a male motorcyclist and a female passenger from one of the vehicles were killed. The victims weren't immediately identified.

The newspaper says the front bumper and windshield of a car was damaged. A severely damaged white van and motorcycle were in the intersection.

State Police say Route 9A was closed between Dana Road & Skyline Drive until at least 10 p.m.
