Hillsboro, MO : Woman, 19, killed in Jefferson County crash on Friday, January 20, 2017
A 19-year-old woman was fatally injured Friday when the car she was riding in crossed into the path of a Jeep on Highway 30, police say. The driver of the car has been arrested.
The woman who died is identified as Brianna Pollard, of Fairdealing, Mo. She was in the passenger seat of a 2016 Kia Rio that was involved in a collision at 2:15 p.m. Friday at Highway 30 near Lower Byrnes Mill Road and Indian Springs Road.
The Rio was driven by Kristin Eberhardt, 22, of House Springs. The Missouri Highway Patrol says Eberhardt was arrested on suspicion of felony assault, possession of a controlled substance and driving while intoxicated.
At about 2:15 p.m. Friday, Eberhardt was on Lower Byrnes Mill Road trying to cross Highway 30 to enter Indian Springs Road, police say. She pulled into the path of a Jeep Wrangler, police say. The Jeep struck the Rio, causing it to spin down an embankment and hit a tree.
Pollard was pronounced dead at the scene.
Eberhardt was taken to local hospital to be treated for serious injuries. The driver of the Jeep, Tracy McAfee, 44, of House Springs, was also taken to a hospital to be treated for moderate injuries.
A Highway Patrol arrest record said Eberhardt was arrested Friday evening, about five hours after the crash.
Eberhardt, Pollard and McAfee were wearing seat belts, police say.
