Marysville, CA : Forbestown man died in a motorcycle crash in Yuba County on Friday evening, May 13, 2016

The Forbestown man who died Friday evening in a motorcycle crash in Yuba County has been identified as William Carrell, said Sgt. Greig Sizelove of the Yuba County Sheriff's Office.

The California Highway Patrol has said Carrell, 52, was eastbound on La Porte Road, west of Plateau Lane, at high speed.

Carrell attempted to pass another motorcyclist and drove across solid double yellow lines on a blind curve, the CHP said. He then collided head-on with a westbound vehicle driven by Victor Vargasvilla, 21, of Marysville. Carrell was thrown from his bike and killed.

The CHP said it was not yet known whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash. Carrell did not appear to be wearing a helmet.

Vargasvilla and his passenger, Jacob Abrahamvilla, 22, of Wheatland, suffered minor injuries but were not taken to a hospital.
