Tyngsboro, MA : Fitchurg man injured in crash on Lakeview Avenue early Saturday morning, October 25, 2014
A Fitchburg man and two Lawrence firefighters suffered serious injuries in an unusual, simultaneous crash of three motorcycles on Lakeview Avenue early Saturday morning.
Police Chief Richard Howe on Tuesday identified the three drivers who were hurt when their motorcycles all crashed at the same time on Lakeview Avenue, just west of Coburn Avenue, on Saturday about 2 a.m.
Howe identified the drivers as Dakotah Payne, 22, of Fitchburg, Matthew Peek, 29, of Haverhill, and Michael Espinola, 32, of Tyngsboro.
Howe said two of the men were flown to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester and Massachusetts General Hospital, while the third was taken by ambulance to Lowell General Hospital.
Howe did not identify which drivers went where, but he said one of the men is already out of the hospital and that the other two are in stable condition and are expected to survive.
Lawrence Mayor Daniel Rivera confirmed to the Eagle-Tribune that two of Lawrence's firefighters were injured in a crash in Tyngsboro on Saturday, but he declined to provide their names, as did acting Lawrence Fire Chief John Marsh.
A story that previously appeared in the Eagle-Tribune indicates Peek was hired by the Lawrence Fire Department in September 2011. A Twitter profile for Peek also identifies him as a Lawrence firefighter.
