State worker cited in crash with motorcycle in Yuma Arizona
An employee with the Arizona Game and Fish Department has been cited in connection with a Tuesday afternoon collision in the Foothills area.According to the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office, shortly before 3:45 p.m., a white 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by an unspecified person was traveling north on South Fortuna Road toward the intersection at the eastbound Interstate 8 on and off ramps.
At that time, a gold 2002 Chevy Tahoe, also operated by an unspecified driver, was waiting in the southbound South Fortuna Road left turn lane at the intersection to turn onto the eastbound I-8 on-ramp.
When the motorcycle entered the intersection, the driver of the Tahoe reportedly began making a left turn. The motorcycle then struck the Tahoe head on.According to YCSO traffic investigators, the driver of the Tahoe said he did not see the motorcycle when he began the turn.The driver of the motorcycle was transported via Rural/Metro Fire Department ambulance to Yuma Regional Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening.
