MORRISON, IL : Two injured in Whiteside County collision on Friday, 19th July 2019

Two people were injured in a crash at Lyndon and Hazel Roads in rural Morrison Friday.

At about 9:37 p.m., Whiteside County deputies were called to an accident involving a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Joseph R. Mathews, 70, of Morrison and a 2003 Toyota 4Runner driven by Paulette M. Selmi, 65, of Sterling.

Officials said that Mathews was approaching the intersection when Selmi entered the intersection, failing to yield the right of way. The force of the collision caused the Toyota to enter the southwest ditch of Lyndon Road where it overturned and came to rest on its drivers side.

Emergency personnel extracted Selmi from the vehicle. She was transported to Jovan Bae Riverside Hospital in Rockford by MedForce helicopter, officials said.

Mathews was transported by ambulance to Morrison Community Hospital for his injuries.
