An 8-year-old boy who was struck by a car in Lakewood last Thursday remains in the hospital.

Police said Monday that the boy is in stable condition. As long as there are no complications, he should be released by the end of the week.

According to a police report obtained by newsnet5.com, a Jeep Patriot was traveling west on Franklin Boulevard at Alameda Avenue Thursday morning when the boy ran into the road. The driver swerved to avoid the boy but still collided with him.

A woman who called 911 said the boy was unconscious after he was hit.

Police said the boy sustained a fractured leg.

No charges were filed against the driver.
