Police in Wilmington have charged a man with misdemeanor death by vehicle after they say he hit and killed a pedestrian before crashing into a home near the intersection of Dawson and Tenth streets Friday afternoon.
According to officials with the Wilmington Police Department, the incident happened around 12:50 p.m.
A woman believed to have been in her 50s was at a bus stop when she was hit by the vehicle. She later died at the scene.
Christopher Bowden, 54, is charged, according to Wilmington police. Initial tests on Bowden revealed no impairments. An investigation still ongoing.
Wilmington police closed Dawson Street between Tenth and 12th streets for about two hours as emergency crews worked to clear the scene.
